 A Horror Story: A memory that does not away

 

One afternoon on 06/16/1984 Salma's parents went to fill up the car, when they were in action the gas station exploded. Salma was bored at home, then she went up to the television and watched the news, and then she saw that her parents had had an accident. The next day after what happened she was very sad about what happened, and there was a knock on her door... There was a policeman who was known by her parents, the policeman explained everything that had happened and told her that her parents had left a letter, which on the cover said that she should not open it until she turned 18. On 03/06/1986 she was already 18 years old and saw an unusual letter in the kitchen, which she looked at and suddenly remembered the information it contained, so she went over to read it, and it said an address that gave to a veterinarian, she went and asked a friend of her father and the veterinarian told her that her parents had asked him to give them a dog.
She was happy, that she would have a memory of her family and she received it gratefully, she took it home and named it Gary which she found very sweet.
She went to play with the dog to distract herself, they were inseparable, the dog and she fell tired from playing so much in the garden, it was already getting dark and the two fell asleep on the couch. She woke up about 30 minutes later, then she saw that her dog was not there, so she understood the hand under the couch and called him. As soon as she called him she felt a lick and she knew it was her dog and from that day she picked up that habit. After that she did not pay any more attention to him and went back to bed. The next day she noticed that the dog had no bed or food, so she got ready and went to the vet to buy him what she had agreed upon, when she was arriving at the vet she saw a huge sign in which there was a dog with a strange name, but what worried her was that the dog was too similar to Gary and had a phone number which she wrote down just in case and went back to her house. When she got home she started calling the dog, who didn't appear anywhere, and she started to worry because she thought something bad had happened to him, so she went around every corner of the house and didn't find him. She was very distressed and decided to go out to get some fresh air to calm down and think well.
When she was about to enter she saw some footprints that were those of a dog, so she followed them and arrived at an attic that she was forbidden to enter by order of her father (it should be noted that she was very obedient to the orders of her parents, even when they were dead), and she saw Gary watching the attic attentively. She calls him and calls him but the dog seemed frozen but never took his eyes off the attic.
Then to enter he had to lift him up until he reached the bed that she bought, she noticed that the dog was shaking and very scared, but she didn't know why so she tried to calm him down with food and caresses, to the point of making him sleep.
When she was making the bed she noticed that Gary was not there, but she didn't give it any importance because when she went to sleep she made sure that all the doors were closed and there was no way for him to get out.
As always and every day she put her hand down where Gary was licking her, and when she did she noticed that his tongue was very cold and scratchy, long, it was not like Gary's, it seemed strange to her and she ran scared to the kitchen to get a glass of water, when she got there, an image too frightening that would surely traumatize her for life. Her dog was hanging in the dishwasher split in half with blood everywhere, and on a mirror was written with the dog's blood "Not only dogs lick", she let out a scream so loud that she fainted from the fright. The next day there was a policeman outside the house that according to the neighbors they had called when they saw the blood and the scream she let out, she explained everything that had happened. The police did not know what to believe, but with the look on her face it was obvious that she had not done such a psychopathic act.
She cleaned everything in tears, buried her dog and cleaned the whole kitchen, when she went to clean the mirror, she noticed the message it contained, which she did not remember because of the fright. Then she realized that the dog was already in a state of putrefaction, as if it were already dead in many days, she had a doubt in her mind that she will never get out of her head and will not have a concise answer, What was it that licked my hand, if that day the dog was already dead? ..
