The Waterfall of Fear, Colombia's Enigma
Very close to a city, there is an abyss shrouded in mist, where beauty meets mystery. There, amidst profound silence, things have happened that very few dare to tell.
Why is it called a waterfall?
This mysterious site hides a story that blends science with legend. Mythologically, it is said that a Muisca woman, filled with grief over the loss of her husband during the conquest, jumped into the void with her son in her arms. From then on, the place has been marked by her tragedy. Scientifically, on the other hand, the name "jump" is related to the presence of a waterfall in the area, which also gives it its imposing and natural appearance. Both versions, myth and science, make this corner a place full of mystery and history.
The hotel: between history and tragedy
The renowned hotel located at Tekendama Falls had multiple lives. In the 1920s, it was used as a train station and presidential mansion. Later, it served as a hotel for Bogotá's elite, where some people stayed with a clear intention: to take their own lives. Due to its symbolic significance, isolation, and altitude, some people left letters to announce their terrible decision. Others made the decision while still there, given its melancholic surroundings and the silence that overwhelmed people with negative emotions, acting as an emotional trigger. Years later, it became a renowned restaurant, and finally, in the 1980s and 1990s, it was abandoned due to the collapse of tourism. Since 2013, it has been a museum, and since it no longer operates as a hotel, people go directly to the cliff to take their own lives.
Witchcraft Practice at the Site
Since this place is energetically charged by everything that has happened there, many people find this site a perfect place to practice witchcraft. Black magic practices, invocation rituals, and many other practices have been recorded. These practices are commonly performed at night.
These practices are generally not performed near the museum because there are many cameras and security personnel, but rather are carried out in the natural environment in remote, wooded areas.
Spiritual and Symbolic Importance
For the Indigenous people, Tequendama Falls was not just a waterfall but a sacred site with profound spiritual power, according to a well-known myth. According to a myth, the god Bochica saved humanity from a great punishment. The story goes that, with his staff, he opened the mountains to create Tequendama Falls, preventing a great flood. Similarly, the Indigenous people believed that the waterfall represented a portal between life and death, the physical and the spiritual. This waterfall was a place of purification, respect, and connection with the ancestors.
Conclusion
Tequendama Falls is more than a waterfall: it is a place where history, myth, and human emotions intersect. Its beauty, its legends, and its past make it an enigmatic site that continues to inspire respect, mystery, and reflection.
