Echoes of lost souls

 Echoes of lost souls

Venice no longer knew what to do, the lifeless bodies of people were piling up more and more, in a desperate act in search of ending the disease that had already ended with 1/3 of its population, it turned Poveglia into its place of isolation where they sent the sick. Many arrived alive, others dying some screaming to return but, no one returned.

Hundreds of bodies were burned, the living and dead shared soil, it is said that the air became more and more tense, loaded with the energy of lost souls, now turned into ashes, and that the earth today is made of bones and blood.

But the worst came in the twentieth century, in 1922, a psychiatric hospital was opened. It was handled by a doctor who did cruel experiments such as lobotomy with rusty tools, electrical therapies and locked patients in forgotten towers, some to torture them and others only let them died.

One night, the doctor climbed to the top of the bell tower and……jumped. It is said that the voices were driving him crazy. Some claim that he survived the fall and the patients dragged him inside to make him suffer. In 1968 the hospital closed forever since then poveglia remains alone. No one lives there, nor dares to approach the few who do it say they hear bells that no longer exits and for these reasons it is forbidden to go to poveglia, people who have managed to enter report having felt nausea, dizziness and feeling of being constantly observed.
